Synonymy D. Ventrimaculatus Red
History
Physical description Looks very much like D.ventrimaculatus size about 16mm, but has a red/orange back instead of the yellow beck of a D. ventrimaculatus. D. amazonicus is for many people not a seperate species but a colour form or morph of the ventrimaculatus, like the different morphs of Tinctorius. DNA tests have shown more similarity between amazonicus and ventrimaculatus as in between different ventricamulatus species. According to R. Schulte amazonicus should be seen as a different species, however there is little support for this theory
Distribution French-Guyana
Biotope
Care and breeding See D. ventrimaculatus, at a temperature of 25-28°C.
