Discovery Myers, 1982. American Museum Novitates, New York, 2721: 18.
Type locality "vicinity of Santa Rosa, 3000 feet (ca. 900 m.) elevation, upper Río Marañón drainage, Department of Cajamarca, Peru. The type locality lies in the hills northwest of the confluence of the Río Chinchipe with the Río Marañón, at about 5° 22' S, 78° 41' W".
Holotype The holotype can be found in the American Museum of Natural History under number: AMNH 55349.
Etymology
Classification Placed in the Dendrobates captivus group by Caldwell and Myers.
Synonymy English name: Maranon Poison Frog
History
Physical description Size 27mm
Distribution Known only from the two locations in Peru, the type locality and Cordillera del Condor.
Biotope
Care and breeding They can be kept at a temperature of 25-27°C.
