Discovery Morales, 1992, Caribbean Journal of Science. Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, 28: 191-199 [191].
Type locality "Bosque Castilla, NW de Iscozacín, 10°10'S, 75°15'W, 345 m elevation, Provincia de Huancabamba, Pasco, Peru".
Holotype The holotype, MHNSM 1461, can be found in the Museo de Historia Natural, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru.
Etymology
Classification D. lamasi is a member of the D. quinquevittatus group
Synonymy English name: Pasco Poison Frog
History
Physical description
Distribution Wet rainforest in the provinces of Pasco and Huánuco, Peru.
Biotope Dendrobates lamasi is a ground and tree dweller of the Peruvian rainforests.
Care and breeding Day time temperature 22-24°C dropping to about 18°C at night with a humidity of 80 - 100 %. Dendrobates lamasi is one of the smaller species, but needs a high vivarium with sufficient branches and rocks, because they climb a lot. 40 x 50 x 50cm (L x D x H) is the minimum size for a couple or trio. For egg placement they need sufficient bromeliads and plastic film boxes in different levels of the vivarium.
