Type locality "in montane forest at 1780 m elev., in the Reserva Natural La Planada (approx. 1°10'N, 78°00'W), Municipio de Ricuarte, Department of Nariño, Colombia."
Holotype The holotype: IND-AN 1556 is located in the Amphibian Collection, Instituto Nacional de los Recursos Naturales Renovables y del Ambiente, Bogotá, Colombia..

Physical description Size: 19.5-21mm. Closely related to Epipedobates erythromos according to the original description .
