On top of the PVC an old (but clean ) cotton table cloth is used to protect the PVC foil from sharp edges. On top of the cloth a 25 KG of zeolite is added to form a layer around the water return PVC system.
Zeolite has the excellent property to create an immense surface were bacteria like to grow. These bacteria are required to keep the vivarium clean and free of cleaning since they will transform the frog waste into harmeless substances like nitrogen gas again. This microsystem should become in balance with itself, but this balance can be helped with some extra surface and bacteria to do the job. Of course the plants that are going to be added will help in this balance, but most of the epiphites are slow growing and do not use a high amount of nitrates to grow.
